Kennedy takes recess jaunt to China

Just because the justices of the Supreme Court are not on the bench this week, that doesn’t mean they are not busy. In fact one justice is taking the time to go to a law school dedication – halfway around the world from the Court.

Justice Anthony Kennedy is on his way to China to take part in the dedication ceremony for the Peking University School of Transnational Law, the country’s first American-style law school.

The justice will speak at the ceremony, along with Jeffrey S. Lehman, founder of the new school and former dean of the University of Michigan Law School.

Last month the new school started its first courses to an enrolled class of about 55 students. Lawyers, judges and legal scholars will also be on hand for tomorrow’s dedication ceremony.
