Perhaps the Supreme Court likes drama? Could that be the reason that it has saved some of the most anticipated decisions of the term for almost last?
Today, the Court is scheduled to release at least one of the 22 remaining opinions of the term. As always, Court watchers are wondering if today’s decisions will include a ruling on the constitutionality of D.C.’s handgun ban, the constitutional rights of Guantanamo Bay prisoners, whether the death penalty is an unusually cruel punishment for child rape, or on the 14-year battle over punitive damages in the Exxon Valdez lawsuit.
There are also a number of remaining cases of interest to attorneys, dealing with employment law, ERISA, criminal evidence and criminal sentencing.
Check back after 10 am to see what the Court does today.
