DC Dicta does not often turn to the New York Post‘s Page Six as a source of legal gossip, but this item was intriguing.
The gossip page, quoting its sources, attributes former President Bill Clinton’s seemingly tepid endorsement of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama to Obama’s refusal to promise former primary opponent Sen. Hillary Clinton a spot on the U.S. Supreme Court if he’s elected.
“Hillary wants an assurance that if she shows loyalty and goes out there like a good soldier, she will be rewarded with a nomination for the Supreme Court should a seat become available,” said an “insider” according to the column. Obama allegedly “balked” at the suggestion.
As for Sen. Clinton’s take on the gossip item, a spokeswoman said of the Post‘s scoop: “Absurd. Nonsense. Rubbish. Hogwash. Malarkey.”
