Today Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer.
Ginsburg, 75, is expected to remain hospitalized at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for the next 7 to 10 days, according to the Supreme Court’s press office.
Ginsburg had experienced no symptoms prior to the discovery of a lesion during a routine checkup in late January. A CAT Scan later revealed a tumor, about one centimeter in diameter, in the center of her pancreas.
In 1999 Ginsburg, who has been on the bench since 1999, was treated for colorectal cancer.
